The sun came out today on the Black River in Watertown, NY for finals day today. The action certainly turned up the heat when the Men’s Semi’s started the day off. After finals there were some upsets in the Junior Women’s Category.
The morning started off cold on the Black River, but the weather soon took a turn for the better as the afternoon came around. The Men’s Semi’s took first to the water. Andrew Holcome, Clay Wright and Brian Kirk where the big upsets knocking out some heavy hitting paddlers to make it to the finals for
the afternoon.
The Jr ladies took their turn and the order stayed the same with French paddler Noria Newman taking a command of first place.
Jr Men’s was a aerial show put on by the smallest paddlers out there. Dane Jackson and Jason Craig took turns running up big scores with monster air loops and air wheels. Jakub Nemuc from the Czech Republic had some amazing rides, but wasn’t enough to hold off the little power house of Dane Jackson racking up and incredible score in his second ride.
The Women’s class had Tanya Faux sitting as the first seed before their final three rides. Emily Jackson stepped up to the plate and took a commanding lead with her first ride. Canada’s Ruth Gordon hit some big air loops taking third place. The queen of big air Tanya Faux couldn’t stop the Jackson freight train that was barreling thru this competition. Emily took the first place podium spot at this second leg of the World Cup.
The Men’s division had some absolutely huge rides, but no one could keep the Jackson’s off the podium in this division either. EJ had a final ride score of and impressive 110 to take first place while Andrew’s Holcome’s smooth style earned him the second place finish. Brian Kirk with his entry moves took the final place on the men’s podium.

| NEWS | | The first ever World Cup is soon to be a reality!
One of the requirements for Olympic status is a World Championship (which we have every 2 years) and another major event (preferably a World Cup) held every year in between. Our sport now has a World Championship (May 2007 on the Ottawa) and a World Cup. Olympic status also requires participation of at least 50 countries. Do your part by encouraging your international paddling friends to put the Ottawa on their schedule.
